The Darien Police Department is currently accepting applications for the Citizens Police Academy Fall 2011 Class.

The Academy will be on Wednesday evenings from September 14 to December 14, 2011.   

A successful academy requires a class size of between 10 and 20 participants. 

The Academy includes both classroom and hands-on experiences. In the classroom, participants will learn about various aspects of a police officer’s job from numerous members of the Darien Police Department. Items discussed include: Traffic Law, Criminal Law, DUI Law, Investigations and their tools, Defensive Tactics, Firearms, and other topics, as well as seeing SWAT and Canine Officers in action! Academy participants experience hands-on mock traffic and DUI stops, using firearms simulators, processing mock crime scenes, and many more police-related experiences.
