Check your lottery tickets, folks: Someone in Darien could be $5.75 million richer this morning.
The Minuteman Citgo on Plainfield Road in Darien sold a lottery ticket that matches all six of the winning numbers from Wednesday night’s drawing, the Illinois Lottery said. Those numbers are:
02 - 04 - 12 - 16 - 34 – 44
A winner has not yet come forward to claim the prize, Illinois Lottery spokeswoman Madonna Duncan said. The winner needs to sign the back of the ticket and bring it to an official Prize Center. Along with the ticket, the winner should also bring a photo ID and a means of verifying his or her social security number. A full list of claim stations can be found on the Illinois Lottery website.
After lottery officials verify it's an authentic ticket, Duncan said they will release the winner's name.
Citgo owner Jamie Gleitsman said he doesn’t know who bought the ticket or when it was sold. He said it was a Quick Pick ticket with randomly selected numbers.
Gleitsman said he has just one hope for the ticket.
“We’re a real neighborhood store with a lot of regular customers that live in Darien, so I hope it’s someone we know,” he said. “But even if it’s not, we’re glad to have sold it.”
If the winner elects to receive a lump-sum payment, he or she will get about $3.6 million, Duncan said. Alternatively, the winner can opt for 26 annual payments. The first year, the winner would receive $225,000. Each subsequent year for the next 25 years, he or she would get $221,000.
