Brown to Officially Assume Police Chief Duties Next Week
Brown is scheduled to start next Tuesday, the day before the city council's annual goal-setting session.
Darien’s new police chief, Ernest Brown, is scheduled to start next Tuesday, Alderman Sylvia McIvor said during Monday’s city council meeting.
Brown will be present the next day at the city council’s annual goal-setting session, according to the session’s agenda.
He will outline his vision for the Darien Police Department and take questions from the council at that time, the agenda says. Brown most recently served as bureau chief for the Chicago Police Department's patrol division.
McIvor chairs Darien’s police committee, which she said has been on hiatus for the past couple of months in anticipation of Brown’s start date.
The next police committee meeting is scheduled for Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. at Darien City Hall.
