Chuck's Southern Comfort Cafe Coming to Darien

You may recognize the restaurant from TV shows like "Diners, Drive-ins & Dives," "Chicago's Best" and "Check Please."

Chuck's Southern Comfort Cafe, best known for its BBQ and Cajun-Creole, will open at 8025 S Cass Avenue (formerly Cornerstone Restaurant) in spring 2013.

"[We will open] anywhere from end of March to the end of May," says general manager Lisa Cortez. "It all depends on how everything progesses."

The lack of snow this winter has helped speed along construction, she added, noting that they'll be building out to accomodate smokers.

With one location already in Burbank, Chuck's has acquired a loyal following. The restaurant has been featured on a slew of TV shows like "Diners, Drive-ins & Dives," "Chicago's Best" and "Check Please."

In addition to BBQ, the restaurant offers soup, fresh salads, stews, veggie burgers, catfish po-boys, hamburgers and sub sandwiches.

Cortez says Chuck's considered various communties but ultimately settled on Darien for a second location because city officials expressed genuine interest.

"Darien is loaded with chains. The city was looking for more of a restaurant that they could call their own because all of our stuff is cooked fresh everyday."

I'm thrilled! We've been to their original location and had a great time. We wish Chuck and his So.Comfort family well in their new endeavor.
And thank you for sprucing up that eyesore of a building.

I am with you Cheryl! Can't wait! The food is amazing. I am crossing my fingers that beer selection they have in Burbank also comes to Darien!

I just ate at Chuck's in Burbank. This was my first visit. They served the best rib slabs I ever had along with great sauce selections. Darien residents will soon learn we are very lucky to have this business select our town for their second location.
