Darien Police: We Need Residents Help to Stop Motor Vehicle Burglaries
Motor vehicle burglaries are up in Darien, which the Darien Police Chief says can lead to other crimes.
A recent spate of motor vehicle burglaries in Darien and the surrounding communities has Darien Police actively reaching out to remind residents to lock their car doors and keep valuables out of sight.
The Darien Police Department is launching a full-blown campaign to inform motorists how important it is to take those two precautions.
"Any crime is a springboard to other crimes," said Darien Police Chief Ernest Brown. Brown told Patch that the department is taking the motor vehicle burglaries seriously, but police need residents' help to get results.
"About 90 percent of the vehicle burglaries that take place in Darien happen because the vehicles are unlocked," said Brown.
Brown said people also should take steps to park in lighted areas whenever possible and contact police if they notice anything suspicious.

So the police cannot stop or prevent crimes from happening. Glad to see it is admitted. So why is Illinois the ONLY state in the U.S. that does NOT allow law abiding citizens the right to keep and "bear" firearms for legal defensive purposes???
