Items Worth Thousands Stolen From Darien Homes, Cars

Darien police responded to two burglaries within the same block Jan. 24.

Thousands of dollars of valuable items were stolen from two Darien homes in the same block on Jan. 24, police reported.

Residents in the 7700 block of Farmindale reported car and home burglaries on the morning of Jan. 24. The first report was filed at 8:30 a.m., and another was filed at 9:45 a.m.

In the first incident, someone entered an unlocked car parked in the driveaway overnight. A laptop, iPhone car charger, garage door opener and purple iPhone 4 were stolen from the car. The total estimated loss was $2,455.

The rear window of a 2012 Hyundai was shattered while parked in the driveway of another home down the block.

Police said the doors were all locked and it didn't appear anything was taken from it. However, the victim said they believed someone entered the home because a laptop and a bag with paintball equipment was reported missing. The total loss was estimated at $1,800.
