Happy birthday to me! August 8 is my birthday. This year, in addition to getting a new driver’s license and taking a few days off from work, I decided to pull together a short list of facts about my special day.

• Dustin Hoffman, Princess Beatrice, Roger Federer, J.C. Chasez, U2’s The Edge, and my favorite, Esther Williams, all share my birthday.
• Wrigley Field hosted its first night game on Aug. 8, 1988, the same day I turned 8 years old and had a luau birthday party.
• Richard Nixon announced his resignation from the presidency in 1974.
• It’s Father’s Day in Taiwan.
• I was born on a leap year.
• “Magic” by Olivia Newton-John was the No. 1 song the week I was born, according to Billboard records.
