Man Allegedly Punches Car with Brass Knuckles During Road Rage Incident
Police say another man punched victim in the face.
A Burr Ridge man beat another driver’s car with brass knuckles, while his passenger punched the driver in the face Sunday afternoon during a road rage incident along Cass Avenue, police said.
Around 3:30 p.m., James R. Jessup, 21, of the 00S400 block of Glenn Drive in Burr Ridge, allegedly drove in front of the victim, cutting him off, according to the report.
At a stoplight, police said both drivers got out of their cars and began arguing. Jessup started swinging his fists at the other driver while wearing brass knuckles, police said.
They got back into their cars and started driving again before Jessup slammed on his brakes, nearly causing an accident on the 7900 block of Cass Avenue, police said.
The two drivers got out of their cars again, at which point Jessup started to punch the other car with the brass knuckles, police said.
Jessup’s passenger, Joseph J. Ramsey, 19, of the 00S300 block of Nantucket Drive in Darien, punched the other driver in the face, according to the victim’s report to police.
Darien police said they arrived while Jessup was punching the car.
While searching Jessup’s car, a canine officer found a glass marijuana pipe, two pairs of brass knuckles and an open bottle of vodka, according to the report.
Jessup was charged with assault, unlawful use of a weapon, disorderly conduct, criminal damage to a vehicle and possession of drug equipment, police said.
Ramsey was charged with disorderly conduct, police said.
The two men were processed and released with court dates pending, according to the report.

"....got back into their cars and started driving again before Jessup slammed on his breaks...."
