Park on Patch's Dime at the Promenade Saturday

Bolingbrook Patch is paying it forward by paying for metered parking all day Saturday at the Bolingbrook Promenade. Stop by and see us for a chance to spin our prize wheel and win some free goodies.

We at Patch want you to have one day when parking at the Promenade is a pleasure — no rooting around for coins in the bottom of your purse or pocket, no swiping your debit card, no running outside frantic to feed a meter.

Bolingbrook Patch has paid for all parking meters at the Bolingbrook Promenade all day Saturday, Nov. 24.

It’s what we call Park on Patch, and Patch employees will be on hand at the Promenade Saturday. Just look for your Patch parking meter covers, tents and balloons.

We’ll be handing out lots of awesome Patch gear, and letting you know about our mission and looking for your input, comments and suggestions.

Anyone who signs up to get our daily Patch newsletter by email will get a turn at spinning our Prize Wheel.

Do us a favor and share the news with your friends and neighbors who shop at the Promenade! See you there!

The thought is nice but I hope everyone knows you do not have to pay these meters. They are not owned by the Village, but are owned by the mall. Right on the meter it says its optional to pay. The money goes right back to the mall. There would be no police action or tickets for not paying. I shake my head when I see people put money in them.

The money put into the parking meters goes to charity. If they went to the Village, the Village would own the meters, and they don't. I talked to the security folks at this mall after receiving a "ticket", and they told me that the ticket money and money put into the meters is charity.

Tommy....I wasn't trying to upset you. I was just giving information that I learned upon receiving a "ticket" at the mall. Just thought I would help clarify to folks understand. Although I am not sure, I would imagine the money the Patch is paying for the parking meters is going to charity. Can someone from the Patch clarify this. Now, when I received this "ticket", it was when the mall first opened. Things could have changed.

Tommy O- How much did you pay for Patch? Go somewhere and make yourself useful.

Tommy O go blow your horn somewhere else. Who are you to tell Patch what they should do? Patch is doing something good, paying meters for the day and you are complaining. Just park your '86 rusted out beater at a free meter and chill out.

I spoke to the managers of the Promenade who I have been working with to organize this event. The meters are not optional and there is nothing on them that indicates this. Park on Patch is a marketing initiative for Patch in hopes to make life a little easier for our readers and those who will be shopping this Saturday. I hope everyone has a lovely Thanksgiving!

Thanks Patch! it's was nice for you to put this together for Small Business Saturday.
It's so hard for retailers these days with so much shopping being done on the internet.
