Police Blotter: Drunken Teen Enters Wrong Home, Pot Possession

Sunday, May 27

Underage drinking

Steven Glodic, 18, of the 5700 block of South Kensington in Countryside; Marcel Picallo, 19 of the 7400 block of Brookdale in Darien; and a 17-year-old female from Burr Ridge were arrested around 3:10 a.m. near the intersection of Wirth and Howdy, said. Officers responding to a noise complaint said they found the three teens in the intersection with a can of beer and a bottle of vodka next to them on the ground. The teens smelled strongly of alcohol, police said. Each was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Glodic and Picallo were given a July 3 court date, while the Burr Ridge teen has a court date pending.

Saturday, May 26

DUI at Lemont Road and I-55

David T. Howard, 32, of the 1000 block of Churchill Drive in Bolingbrook, was arrested around 1:37 a.m. near Lemont Road and Interstate 55, police said. Officers said they stopped Howard after they saw him make an illegal U-turn and found a plastic cup filled with alcohol behind the driver’s seat. Howard’s breath smelled like alcohol, he spoke with slurred speech, and he admitted to drinking, police said. He refused to take a Breathalyzer test. Police charged him with DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving without a license and making an improper U-turn. He was given a July 3 court date.

Police find man passed out in car

John W. Krepp, 29, of the 5500 block of King Arthur Court in Westmont, was arrested around 2 p.m. in the New China Buffet Parking lot at 7511 Lemont Road, police said. Officers said they found Krepp passed out in his car’s backseat. He told police he drove to the parking lot after drinking alcohol at his home and repeatedly said he was drunk, the report said. Officers took him to the hospital because he was so drunk, the report said. His blood alcohol levels were three-and-a-half times the legal limit, according to tests. Krepp was charged with two counts of DUI and one count of operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and given a June 21 court date.

Thursday, May 24

Shoplifted Bluetooth

Jacqueline Smith, 47, of the 1100 block of Chalet Drive in Darien, was arrested around 2:05 p.m. at the 75th Street Walmart, police said. Officers said Smith put a Bluetooth earpiece in her purse, which she didn’t pay for even though she paid for other items and left the store. She was charged with retail theft with court dates pending.

Police find loaded gun during traffic stop

Kurt R. Westergren Jr., 31, of the 5200 block of Laramie Court in Oak Forest, was arrested around 8:44 a.m. near the intersection of 83rd and Lemont, police said. Officers said they found a loaded handgun in a bag that Westergren asked them to release to a friend when they stopped Westergren in connection with a traffic violation. Police charged Westergren with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and took him to DuPage County Jail, where he remains on $15,000 bond.

Man drives into oncoming traffic

Hugo R. Juarez, 41, of the 400 block of Salen Square in Bolingbrook, was arrested around 3:12 a.m. near the intersection of Cass and Hinswood, police said. Juarez, whose car was parked on North Frontage Road, began driving into oncoming traffic when an officer approached him to investigate, police said. He told police he had been drinking, and spoke with slurred speech, had red, glassy eyes and smelled strongly of alcohol, police said. His blood alcohol levels were more than two-and-a-half times the legal limit, police said. He was charged with two counts of DUI, driving without a license and improper lane usage, and given a June 19 court date.

DUI on Cass

Antoinette S. Hughes, 31, of the 00w500 block of Honeysuckle Rose in Willowbrook, was arrested on the 7900 block of Cass Avenue, police said. Officers said Hughes was driving erratically at 55 mph in a 40 mph zone. She admitted to drinking and smelled strongly of alcohol, police said. Her blood alcohol levels were more than 0.08, police said. She was charged with speeding and two counts of DUI, and given a June 19 court date.

Friday, May 18

Drunken teen enters wrong home

Angel Ramirez, 19, of the 7600 block of Blackberry Lane in Willowbrook, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on the 8000 block of Farmingdale, police said. A drunken Ramirez entered a home that was not his through an unlocked back door, police said. The homeowner pushed him back out without suffering any injury, the report said. Ramirez was charged with criminal trespass to a residence and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

Marijuana possession

Melanie Nunez, 19, of 100 Parkway Street in Willowbrook, was arrested around 3:27 a.m. on the 700 block of North Frontage Road, police said. Officers said they smelled marijuana coming from Nunez’s purse while taking her to the Darien Police Department on charges related to driving with a suspended license. They found a bag of marijuana, a glass pipe and a grinder in her purse, the report said. Officers said they originally pulled her over related to driving erratically. Nunez was also charged with cannabis possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to signal a lane change. She was given a July 3 court date.

Wednesday, May 16

Marijuana possession

Michael L. Plaxico, 25, of the 7900 block of South Damen in Chicago, was arrested around 9:31 a.m. on the 8400 block of Cass Avenue, police said. Officers said they saw several pieces of cannabis paraphernalia and packaging in Plaxico’s car when they pulled him over in connection with driving erratically. The car also smelled strongly of burnt marijuana, the report said. Plaxico was charged with possession of cannabis, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and improper lane usage. He was given a June 21 court date.

Tuesday, May 15

DUI on Cass

Johnathon K. Frost, 38, of the 8200 block of Woodglen Lane in Downers Grove, was arrested around 12:50 a.m. on the 7900 block of Cass Avenue, police said. Officers said he smelled strongly of alcohol after they pulled him over in connection with driving erratically. He refused a Breathalyzer test. Frost was charged with DUI, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage, and given a June 25 court date in Wheaton.

Police find man sleeping in crookedly parked car

Edward Thomas Smetana, 50, of the 1800 block of Fourth Avenue in Friendship, WI, was arrested around 12:27 a.m. at the Speedway on Lemont Road, police said. Officers said they found Smetana sleeping in his car with the windows open and the keys in the ignition. The car was parked over two parking spots and was not running, police said. Smetana refused a Breathalyzer test. He was charged with DUI and given a June 19 court date.
