Just like our calender, the Mayan one was adjusted over its time. If memory serves when the change from the Julian calender to the Gregorian occured they skipped almost 2 weeks. We adopted the Gregorian calendar in 1752, by which time it was necessary to correct by 11 days. Wednesday, 2 September 1752 was followed by Thursday, 14 September 1752

Thanks Erik, that's good to know. I had heard something like that when I was in high school. I know alot of religious nuts that thought the world was going to end. Now they are back stepping and saying Jesus gave us another chance. The Mayan's had to stop making calenders at some point, that just happened to be the day they stopped at. Maybe it had something to do with the end of their civilization.

Nolan a true Catholic or religious person does not believe in people or stupid myths when the world will end, That's up to the Almighty God and no one else.

That means so much coming from someone who identifies themselves as "Despiser." Not a very uplifting handle for a supposed Christian, and not a very respectful handle for a supposed patriot.

I see no problem with the name, I don't care for Obama and his beliefs and never will support or acknowledge his views or him as a President. Never said I hated the pretend President, but I have contempt for him which despises means.

Vera, you acknowledge President Obama on a daily basis, not just with your current screen name, but also with most of your posts.

Coincidence! I called myself the Despiser of Mayans but I changed it of course because they were just kidding and I offer no ill will. Merry Christmas and Happy Future Holidays!

The world is full of all types of people, those who say they believe and judge. People that want to be remembered, like the 27 dead. Life is like a roller coaster, when he ride runs out of track, it's all over.
