Deadline Thursday to Register for DarienFest Battle of the Bands

Here’s some of what’s going on in and around Darien for Thursday, Aug. 15:

·      Thursday is the deadline to register for the DarienFest Battle of the Bands! Registration is $25; bands may have 3-8 members and will play two songs of no more than eight minutes. More information on how to register and the requirements are available in the Darien Chamber of Commerce’s August newsletter.

·      Thursday nights are always special at Darien’s Q Bar and Grill, featuring several specials and a guest DJ spinning from 9 p.m. through 1 p.m. Find out more here at the Darien Chamber of Commerce website.

·      It’s a little drive, but one of Darien’s closest theatres, Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace, is previewing their new show, Next to Normal, a musical and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, starting on Thursday and running through October. “This is a musical that asks the question: Can the seemingly perfect family survive an insurmountable event and tender the untenable?” Find out all the information here.
