I was talking with a friend yesterday about the high cost of gas these days, and I started to think about how our elected officials promise everything during their campaigns but then deliver nothing once they get in.
It is not a Democrat or Republican thing, it is just a politician thing. When they are running for office they come out and shake hands, kiss babies, eat at local restaurants and go on and on about how they will change things if we just elect them. And as you can see, it has worked! The changes are all around us: higher gas prices, higher food prices, less jobs, more anger, more disappointment, more scandals and more rhetoric. So I came up with a message for the folks in Washington and Illinois that I put in the form of a song called, "Get Er Done or Quit".
Get 'Er Done or Quit

Well the politicians always say
Find out what's happening in Darienwith free, real-time updates from Patch.
Everything will be alright
Just blindly put your faith in us
And we will lead you to the light
But I guess that I just don’t believe
Cause there’s just too much strife
And it seems to me, and you might agree
They can’t seem to get it right
Ch:
Hey you! Up there in Washington
Sitting up on Capitol Hill
Why can’t you all just compromise
Before more blood is spilled
Bring back those kids you sent to war
This country you must fix
So get to the things you said you’d do
And get 'er done or quit
V-2
Now maybe if the President
Would come down to my town
He could meet the folks that he represents
And see what we’re about
You see we don’t need the congress
Telling us the way to live
We’ve given all we have and more
We’ve got no more to give
Bridge:
We’ve lost our jobs, we’ve lost our homes
We’re struggling to survive
But we still love this land of ours
And you need to make things right
Maybe someone will see this and get the message to those in charge that what we need now more than ever is real "leadership." You run for office as a Democrat or Republican, but once you are elected you are supposed to act and vote in the best interest of the people you represent, not the party you are in.
Senators, congressmen and the president are elected to serve all of us and they need to be reminded often of that fact. We have to change the way politicians especially in Washington think so that the DC in Washington, DC, no longer stands for Don't Care!
So get 'er done guys and let's make a better America.
