Seventh-grader Aidan Kelly beat out 19 other fourth- through eighth-grade students from and Eisenhower Junior High to become champ Wednesday at the annual District 61 Spelling Bee. His winning word: papyrus.
“I was kind of nervous, but it was a lot of fun,” Kelly said after the win.
Next up, Kelly will compete at the DuPage County Spelling Bee Feb. 23 at Lisle Junior High.
