Munch Madness: Smilga Takes on Zazzo Pizzeria

In a matchup that celebrates unusual names, Smilga faces off against Zazzo on the way to the sweet 16 of Munch Madness.

We've also got sandwiches fighting it out with Irish grub, pizza battling pizza and pasta racing against buffalo wings.

 Smilga is a charming eat-in or take-out restaurant with a modest sized food mart conveniently located in the Lithuanian deli/eatery.

 Using family recipes and the freshest vegetables and homemade sausage, Zazzo's menu consists of traditional and contemporary dishes, including lasagna, penne and more.

Second Round (Downers Grove)

 For an authentic touch of Ireland, stop in at the Ballydoyle Irish Pub & Restaurant.  It is chock full of friendly service, Irish comfort food, cold pints and live music on the weekends.

 Since 2006, Celebrity Sandwiches has been serving lunch and dinner from its location on Belmont Road, and as its owner states: "If you like good food, you'll like Celebrity Sandwiches."

Second Round (Lemont) 

 vs.  

 A local favorite, Turnabout Pizza offers five sizes of delicious pizza plus some sandwiches. Turnabout is well known for its unique twisted crust.

 Jimbo's Pizza opened in 1998 and has been a local favorite ever since. It's famous for its "Lemontster," the largest pizza in town, but also offers sandwiches, appetizers and catering. 

Second Round (Woodridge) 

 vs. 

 Our 2011 winner! Clara's Pasta is that neighborhood Italian place where you go to get great authentic food and to be treated like family.

 You can lounge outside on the covered patio with a Buffalo Zoo cocktail and a chili-queso burger, or sit inside and munch on the glazed, grilled ribs while watching your favorite sports team on one of the many big-screen TVs.
