Wendy's Restaurants Offer Halloween Treat

Proceeds from special coupon books will support Wendy's adoption programs.

It’s no trick how Wendy’s and Chicago have pulled together to help children waiting in foster care find forever families.

Through a promotion at , customers can purchase special coupon books to hand out to trick-or-treaters on Halloween night. The books, which cost $1, include coupons for free Wendy’s Jr. Frostys. All of the proceeds benefit the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption in support of Wendy’s Wonderful Kids of Illinois.

In 2010, the Wendy’s Halloween program raised more than $2 million for foster care adoption throughout the United States and Canada. Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas, who was adopted as a child, was an advocate for children in foster care and was committed to raising awareness of the more than 137,000 children who are waiting for permanent homes and loving families in North America. He also founded the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, a non-profit public charity dedicated to increasing adoptions of children in North America’s foster care system. Wendy’s Wonderful Kids is a signature program of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption that focuses exclusively on the longest-waiting children in foster care.

“We have a terrific following for our Frosty coupons and encourage the community to stop by and get theirs for Halloween night,” said Mike Zak, president of the Wendy’s Chicago co-op. “We support the good work of the foundation and our crew members have a lot of fun selling the booklets, too.”

Quantities are limited, and coupon books are on sale through Oct. 31. Coupons can be used from Nov. 1 through Feb. 1, 2012. For more information about the foundation’s work, visit davethomasfoundation.org
