Willowbrook Chick-fi-A Delayed to 2014; Pete's Fresh Market to Open

The restaurant was supposed to begin construction in April but now likely will not start up until November and not open until spring 2014.

Chick-fil-A lovers in and around Darien will have to keep trekking out to the Bolingbrook location for another year as opening of the franchise's planned new location in the Willowbrook Town Center has been delayed until spring 2014, the Chicago Tribune reports.

According to the paper, when built, the 5,521-sqare-foot chicken restaurant will fill the last open spot in the Center; however, Chick-fil-A said that they are too busy opening other new restaurants to build the Willowbrook one on their original schedule.

"I expect they will get the shell (of the building) up and work inside the building during the winter," Willowbrook Village Administrator Tim Halik told the paper.

However, the paper added, the Village has also announced that just across Plainfield Road, the site vacated by Kmart earlier this year has been purchased for $12 million and is slated to become a Pete's Fresh Market, along with additional new free-standing businesses in the lot behind Willowbrook 66 (northeast corner of Plainfield and Route 83.)
