Rotary Recognized for Giving

rotary wins award for most donations in district

Rotary District Governor Pat Merryweather frequently says, “No money, no mission.”  She means that without funds, Rotary clubs can’t accomplish their mission of serving their community.  The Darien Rotary Club understands that, and was recently recognized for buying into that vision.

This past week, immediate Past President Rob Ferrigan was presented an award recognizing the Darien club as having donated the most money to the Rotary Foundation of any club in the district.  The award was presented by Past District Governor and District Foundation Chair Chris Reilly.  During his presentation, Chris noted that this was the 6th year in a row that the Darien club had received the award.

In fact, Chris noted, that the Darien club, with per capita giving of over $500 per year, ranked 348th in the world, out of over 34,000 Rotary clubs.  This impressive total puts the Darien club in the top 1% of clubs around the world.

Hi lpwagener, as you can see, we've been undergoing a few changes here this week and we're reallyRead More hoping residents will make use of our new Boards--like these--to help make sure anything we miss makes it to the site. Thanks for contributing; we'd love to hear if you have a story from the storm, or even if you just want to vent about nine-hour power outages (which sound terrible; I'm quite sorry.) Thanks!!
