Rotary Helping Darien

Rotary is a community service organization. Part of that service is providing grants, and in order to improve our service offerings, we now approve grants on a monthly basis.  Last month, we approved five grants totaling $3,600.  The grant recipients were:

  • National Alliance on Mental Illness – we assisted the DuPage County chapter, which provides assistance for people with mental illnesses in our area.
  • Cass Jr. High Band
  • LOVE Christian Clearinghouse – a nondenominational charity providing emergency cash to needy individuals.
  • West Suburban Community Pantry – our local food bank.
  • Elizabeth Ide School – for non-taxpayer-funded educational projects.

The grant-in-aid program is just one of the club’s community service projects.  The club also provides dictionaries to every third grade student in the Darien schools.  This year the club is continuing our Backpack program, providing supplemental nutrition to over 100 grade-school kids in the Darien community.

For more information about grants-in-aid, other club projects or becoming a Rotarian, visit the club’s web site at www.darienrotaryclub.org
