Concord School Preschool Families Celebrate Literacy

Reinforcing the importance of early literacy skills, the preschool teachers at Concord Elementary School recently hosted this year’s first Family Day on October 11, 2013. The goal of the morning was to stress the importance of reading both in and out of school while also providing specific reading strategies for parents in an effort to encourage reading development as a natural and daily habit. Teachers shared three special stories with the families and the children decorated their very own bookshelf to take home. Finally, each child was able to pick out one special book to start their home library. With an extremely strong turn-out of 64 families, the day was a wonderful success!
