EPA Issues Air Alert for Friday

Stay indoors if you fall into a sensitive group, which includes children, the elderly, and people with breathing or heart disorders.

You might want to think twice about spending too much time outdoors Friday.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency issued an alert that Friday's air around will likely be unhealthy for sensitive groups, which include children, the elderly, and people with breathing or heart disorders.

The EPA gave the forecast an orange rating, which means ozone levels will be high.

  • Wait until twilight to gas up your car. Emissions aren't as likely to create ozone when the sun isn't beating down.
  • Hold off on mowing your lawn.
  • Keep other chemicals out of the air by taking a break from your household chores. Ozone action day = one-day vacation from cleaning house!
