Get to Know a Patch Blogger: Daniel Kassl

Over the next several weeks, Darien Patch will feature one of its bloggers.

Blogging for Darien Patch since: It hasn't felt that long since my first blog post on May 4. I've actually been blogging for 233 days, and, yes, I actually sat down and did some subtraction. I've written so many blog posts on such a vast amount of subjects.

Blogs about: Mostly, I blog about the happenings in . Other than that, I've done some posts on current events around the world, and lots of reports about storms due to the active storm season Darien experienced this summer.

What made you decide to start blogging for Patch? After the blizzard in February, I had a lot of pictures of it. I forgot about these pictures. Later, I was researching L.O.M.C. pictures (where Cass fifth-graders go on an annual retreat), trying to find a picture of me. I found Patch, but didn't find me. I created an account and commented on the post, sort of reviewing my time there. A big banner on the top of the page displayed and advertisement saying BLOGGERS WANTED. I figured that I should. I wanted to give people a look at some of the things I do at Cass. Also, I have thoroughly studied climatology and meteorology and wanted to give the people of Darien an outlook on our storms. As for my current events reports, I don't think that's my thing. As for the blizzard pictures, I could not share them, unfortunately, because my laptop is slow and older than me.

What do you do when you're not blogging? I love to read. My favorite author is James Patterson, and I have read a lot of his books. And he has many, many more that I haven't read. To be honest, I like playing Call of Duty on my Playstation 3, however, I am not constantly playing it like some people I know. I am in sixth grade, and I do not get a whole lot of homework. Of course, the homework I do have takes time. I watch television before I go to bed, if I'm not reading. Recently, I've inherited so many art supplies, which inspired my hobby to draw and color. That's pretty much it, but I have to eat, sleep and go to school of course.

What is your favorite thing about Darien? My favorite thing about Darien has to be the fact that its government plans so many events for the people to come to, as well as the clubs that they can join. Also, it has  great school systems that are very close to my house. In addition, all the stores in Darien sell exactly what my family and I need: food, clothing, books, home products, etc.
