Emergency brush pick up will take place Wednesday and Thursday as a result of Monday morning's storm, Municipal Services Director Dan Gombac said. Bring any downed branches to the parkway in front of your home.

The city began removing trees from Darien's roadways around 11:30 a.m. with the help of an outside vendor, Gombac said.

After a line of storms moved through the area during the early morning hours, more showers and storms are likely late in the morning Monday, with highs in the lower 90s and heat index readings of 100 degrees this afternoon. Darien area residents can also expect high humidity, according to the NWS forecast.

According to the company's power outage map, this morning's severe storm's knocked out power to more than 10,000 residents in Commonweath Edison's Bolingbrook region, which includes Darien, Woodridge and Naperville.

Neither or have received many reports of power outages, although many limbs and power lines are down throughout Darien.

Tri-State Fire Chief Michelle Gibson said one power line was down near Culver's on Plainfield Road.

Darien-Woodridge Fire Prevention Bureau Director Bob Morris said there were a number of lines down and it may be a while before ComEd gets to them.

"When the entire suburb is busy, it's hard [for ComEd] to make one place a priority," he said.

Monday night expect lows in the lower 70s. Tuesday’s National Weather Service forecast calls for a 30 percent chance of storms and highs in the mid-80s.
