A quick but powerful storm pushed through Darien Monday morning with winds in excess of 65 mph, according to National Weather Service reports. Electricity was out for days in some parts of Darien.

Though rumors floated throughout the city this spring, Mayor Kathleen Weaver said canceling DarienFest was never an option, despite the tough economy. Instead, the city reached a revenue-sharing agreement with the Darien Chamber of Commerce.
