Two cars were involved in what fire personnel are calling an “apparent head-on collision” Wednesday morning. The investigation into the accident’s cause is ongoing, and Patch will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.

A quick but powerful storm pushed through Darien Monday morning with winds in excess of 65 mph, according to National Weather Service reports. Electricity was out for days in some parts of Darien.

Though rumors floated throughout the city this spring, Mayor Kathleen Weaver said canceling DarienFest was never an option, despite the tough economy. Instead, the city reached a revenue-sharing agreement with the Darien Chamber of Commerce.
