This Week: Columbus Day; Leaf Pickup

Five things everyone in Darien needs to know this week.

1. Columbus Day: It will be business as usual at on Monday, but all Darien schools will be closed. Enjoy your day off, kids!

2. Piling up: Fall leaf pickup began last week and will continue through Nov. 26. Leaves must be placed in large paper yard waste bags or garbage cans labeled “yard waste” on your regular trash day. Do not rake your leaves directly into the street.

3. Senator office hours: State Sen. Christine Radogno will hold her at from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.

5. Sweet on you: This Saturday is Sweetest Day, and what better way to celebrate than by some candy for a good cause and give it to your honey. The fundraiser takes place Friday and Saturday. Look for them selling their famous candy rolls on Darien street corners from dawn to dusk both days.
