Tuesday's Hot Temperatures Set Record

Temperatures soared into the 90s Tuesday, according to The Weather Channel.

Chances are you didn't even realize it, but when you woke up to sunshine and warm temperatures yesterday, you were also witnessing history.

As temperatures raced through the 80s and into the 90s Tuesday afternoon, the weather set an area record that dated back to 1987, according to records kept by The Weather Channel.

A meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Romeoville said temperatures went as high as 91 degrees Tuesday.

And although the NWS has no records for historical temperatures—the station is still relatively new—that figure surpassed the previous record of 89 degrees set in 1987, according to the The Weather Channel.

The rest of the week's forecast calls for warm weather as well. Temperatures are expected to stay in the 80s until Thursday before thunderstorms are expected to enter the area.
