EJH/VFW Patriot Pen Essay Reading

    The authors of the top three Patriot's Pen Essays, as selected by the Darien VFW Post 2838, read their entries during the Eisenhower Junior High School/Barnes & Noble Book Fair last night at the Bolingbrook Promenade. Sr. Vice Commander, Nick Darien, presented the winners with their awards for their responses to this year's theme - “What Patriotism Means to Me”.  The event culminated with Ed Oldis giving an account of his experience aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga aircraft carrier as it was heading towards Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941.

    The winning authors were: 1st Place - Nandini Sadagopan, 2nd Place - Shannon Ferguson, 3rd Place - Sarah Salvato.
