Joshua Holmes Murder

Hinsdale South graduate Joshua Holmes, 18, was gunned down in September at the Lake Hinsdale Terrace apartments. Juan Cuellar, who was charged with the murder, went to court in October and denied a five-count murder indictment. He remains held without bond in DuPage County Jail.

Man Charged With Murder of Hinsdale South Grad Pleads Not Guilty

Sex-Heavy Movies

A Hinsdale South parent filed the district's first curriculum objection in eight years, saying some movies shown in class contained sexual content and obscenities of which he did not approve.

The films in question were the Academy Award-winning Brokeback Mountain and American Beauty to be shown as part of a Hinsdale South literature class.

Drew Peterson's Mother

Darien drew attention in October when convicted murderer and ex-Bolingbrook cop Drew Peterson's mother's funeral was at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Darien.

Betty Morphey, 84, never attended a single day of her son's five-week murder trial. She also never visited Peterson in the three and a half years he has been locked up in the Will County jail.

New Business Opens

Two Downers Grove South alumni are striving to make healthy living not only a part of their lives, but a part of others' lives as well. Bruce and Laura Krajewski currently operate two Massage Envy locations and celebrated the grand opening of their third location in Darien Wednesday night.
