TRI-STATE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

The Tri-State Fire Protection District has entered into an intergovernmental agreement with the Village of Willow Springs that revises the current service agreement between Tri-State and the Village for Fire and Emergency Medical Services Dispatching. Pursuant to the terms of the agreement, Tri-State will be providing fire and emergency services effective October 1, 2013 to the Village of Willow Springs’ utilizing the Village’s single fire station. The three year agreement provides new revenue to Tri-State to help offset the rising costs of services, personnel, and equipment.

A review of call volumes, coverage, and response areas for each Tri-State station supported the relocation of apparatus and personnel at the Tri-State Station 4 facility located at Western & 63rd to the Willow Springs fire house located at 8259 Willow Springs Road. Calls in the northern part of the Tri-State service area will be serviced by Tri-State Station 2 located at 419 Plainfield along with existing Mutual Response, Mutual Aid and Auto Aid Responses with neighboring departments; a long standing practice in the fire service. Station 4 will continue to be utilized for administrative purposes.

Tri-State will continue to evaluate how to better serve the taxpayers under the current financial constraints and continued loss of annexed properties to neighboring villages that Tri-State previously serviced. The addition of services to the Village of Willow Springs will have no adverse impact on Tri-State’s long standing response time goals.
