Andrus Family Funeral Set For June 18, Visitation June 17

The visitation and funeral have been arranged for a family that died in an apparent murder-suicide on Tuesday.

The funeral for David Andrus, his wife Jeana, and their daughters Jessica and Jennifer will begin at 11 a.m. June 18 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 305 Lemont Street in Lemont, according to the Gerharz Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 17 at the funeral home, 501 State Street, Lemont. Interment will be at Clarendon Hills cemetery, the family's obituaries said.

The four Andrus family members died Tuesday in an apparent murder-suicide at their home, located on the 500 block of Oldfield Road in unincorporated Downers Grove, officials said. David Andrus, 50, shot himself; his wife, 48, and two daughters' deaths, ages 22 and 16, were ruled homicides from gunshots, according to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office.

USA Skate Center in Romeoville planned to host a memorial skate Friday for the family. Several residents and neighbors planned to attend, including Charmaine Cyza.

Cyza said she would occasionally greet David Andrus when he was outside mowing the lawn. She would also see the family play with their dogs in the yard. On Thursday she stopped to look at the growing memorial outside the home for the family, adorned with flowers, Beanie Babies and handwritten messages.

"They were a private family," Cyza said outside her home, located across the street from the Andruses. "I didn't see any problems. They were good neighbors."
