Car Crimes: Five Burglaries Reported June 12-19

At least three of the cars were unlocked, police say.

Five car burglaries reportedly took place in Darien between June 12 and 19, police said. The cars were unlocked in at least three of the incidents, according to reports.

  • June 19: Burglars broke the lock on the side door of a van parked on the 1100 block of 79th Street sometime between June 13 and June 19, police said. The thieves stole a number of tools worth about $6,000, according to the report.
  • June 17:A GPS was taken from an unlocked car parked overnight on the 7300 block of Bunker, police said.
  • June 16: A gym bag, a pair of shoes, sunglasses and two ID badges were taken from an unlocked car parked overnight on the 7000 block of Sierra Court, police said. The items were worth about $150.

    Also June 16, a computer bag containing a laptop and cords, a GPS unit and checkbook were taken from a car parked overnight in the Cass Avenue Jewel parking lot, police said. The items were worth about $2,050. It is not known whether the car was locked.
  • June 12: A GPS, MP3 player, Eddie Bauer bag and garage door opener were taken from an unlocked car parked overnight on the 800 block of Chestnut, police said. The items were worth about $275.
