City Posts Darien Police Chief Job Description

The City of Darien is looking for a sworn police officer with a minimum of “eight years of increasingly responsible managerial experience in a law enforcement agency” to serve as the , according to a job description posted on the city’s website.

The posting is part of the search to find a replacement for Chief Robert Pavelchik, .

The salary range for the position is between $119,069 and $128,594, plus benefits, according to the packet. Within that range, pay will be determined based on experience, it said.

A bachelor’s degree is also listed as a minimum qualification, while a master’s degree and completion of the FBI Academy, staff and command school, or another similar program is “desirable.”

The description emphasizes that the next chief will be responsible for taking a close look at the Darien Police Department’s budget.

“The next Police Chief will be expected to look at programs and services and consider alternate service delivery models that will continue to provide quality police services but will result in a lower cost to deliver the services,” the description said. 

Candidates will be reviewed on a rolling basis as they submit applications, the posting said. The deadline for applying is July 8.
