Darien Police Warn of Multiple Residential Burglaries in July

Here is some information about the incidents, and how you can keep your home safe.

The Darien Police Department wants to warn residents of some residential burglaries that have taken place this month.

Two burglaries were reported on the 8500 and 8700 blocks of Carriage Green Drive on Darien's south side.  The other report was taken on the 1600 block of Darien Club Drive on the north side, according to a Thursday news release.

The incidents range in times from late morning to early afternoon, and late evening. No residents were home for any of the incidents. Specific information about methods of entry, dates and times are being withheld due to the ongoing police investigation.

  • Make sure doors and windows are locked before leaving
  • Add timers to interior lights that can be set to turn on as evening light diminishes
  • Leave exterior porch and garage lights on to deter potential criminals

Always call 911 if you notice anything suspicious in your neighborhood, including:

  • Vehicles that do not look familiar to the neighborhood
  • Suspicious people walking around
  • People who come to the door and ring or knock to see if you are home. If you answer the door, the individual will have some story such as looking for a person who does not live there, or asking for directions to another street, or soliciting business.

"We are committed to working with and on behalf of the residents to keep Darien a safe community," Darien Police Chief Ernest Brown said in the release.
