Discarded Oil Cans Prompt Hazardous Materials Call

Tri-State and Argonne fire personnel respond.

A hazardous materials spill reported Monday near the intersection of Eleanor and Elm in Darien ended up being nothing more than cans of oil, Chief Michelle Gibson said.

Tri-State and Argonne fire personnel responded to a call around 9 a.m. alerting them to the possible spill, she said.

"It turned out to be containers of oil someone left on the roadside," Gibson said.
