Lemont Man, 48, Killed in Two-Car Crash

The man was driving northbound, passing cars on the shoulder, when he lost control and was struck by a pickup truck headed southbound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

A 48-year-old Lemont man died in a two-car crash around 6:20 a.m. Monday on Archer Avenue near Parker Road in unincorporated Cook County near Lemont. 

The man was driving a Toyota northbound on Archer Avenue, passing vehicles on the righthand shoulder, when he spun and lost control and was struck by a pickup truck heading southbound around 6:20 a.m., according to Cook County Sheriff's office spokesperson Sophia Ansari.

The man—whose identification is being withheld pending family notification—was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was transported to an area hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Archer Avenue between Bell and McCarthy roads was closed for investigations, but re-opened shortly before 10:30 a.m.

A fatal two-vehicle crash near the entrance of Cog Hill in Lemont has shut down part of Archer Avenue, ABC7 reports.

The crash occurred Monday morning, around Archer Avenue and Oak Tree Lane. Archer Avenue is closed in both directions from 123rd to Bell in Lemont.
