Darien Home Damaged $125,000 in Early-Morning Blaze

The home's garage and attic caught fire early on Thursday morning; residents have been displaced from their home.

A Darien single-family home located at 702 69th Street caught fire early on Thursday morning as a "large amount of fire" spread from the home's attached garage spread into the attic, the Tri-State Fire Protection District said.

According to the District, the flames "vented out the garage door and into the attic." The total amount of damage has been estimated at $125,000.

The District responded to the structure fire at 2:36 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, along with firefighters from the Darien-Woodridge, Downers Grove, Westmont, Hinsdale, Pleasantview, Clarendon Hills, Lemont and Western Springs departments.

The home's occupants escaped uninjured, but one firefighter had to be treated for "heat-related injuries." The occupants have been displaced from their home, Tri-State Deputy Chief Jack L. Mancione said.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and no cause has yet been released.
