Four Cars Burglarized Last Week

Three incidents involve unlocked vehicles.

Four car burglaries were reported to Darien police between May 14 and Saturday, police said. Three of the incidents involved unlocked cars and happened overnight between Friday and Saturday, according to the report.

The incidents were reported as follows:

  • May 15: A victim in the 8300 block of High Point Circle reported a burglar tried to get into the car overnight, police said. The suspect didn’t succeed but heavily damaged both the body of the car and a car window, which was shattered, police said. The attempt caused about $2,000 in damage.
  • Saturday, May 21: A burglar took a purse from the front seat of an unlocked car parked overnight on the 400 block of 69th Street, police said. The purse contained cash, credit cards and other items, totaling about $250, according to the report.

    Also Saturday, a burglar took a set of headphones a GPS, an iPod Touch, a carton of cigarettes and a prescription bottle from an unlocked car parked overnight on the 7000 block of Richmond, police said. The items were worth about $1,230.

    In the final incident reported Saturday, a burglar took a GPS, a radar detector and a stereo remote control from an unlocked car parked overnight on the 6700 block of Crest Road, police said. The items were worth about $289.
