Friends to Hold Memorial Friday for Family in Murder-Suicide

The memorial will be held at USA Skate Center in Romeoville, where Jeana Andrus used to work. She, her husband and two daughters were shot dead Tuesday in an apparent murder-suicide.

Friends of the Andrus family still coping with their death will gather Friday at a public memorial, according to media reports.

The memorial will start at about 8:15 p.m. June 14 at USA Skate Center, 1303 Naperville Drive in Romeoville, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The skate center is a familiar place for the late Andrus family—the mother, Jeana, worked there and was joined often by her 16-year-old daughter Jennifer.

Police found Jeana, Jennifer, her sister Jessica and father David all shot dead on Tuesday in their unincorporated Downers Grove home on the 500 block of Oldfield Road. The DuPage County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the mother and daughters each died of single gunshot wounds and David Andrus died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Jennifer had just completed her sophomore year at Hinsdale South High School. Jessica was a 2011 graduate at the school, Principal Brian Waterman said in an e-mail to students this week.

The school's guidance counselors and other support services are currently available to all Hinsdale South students. Any student who needs support or just someone to talk to can call the school at 630-468-4000.

"On behalf of Hinsdale South, we would like to offer our sincere condolences and thoughts to the family and friends of Jennifer and Jessica during this difficult time," the e-mail said.

News of the family's death shocked residents and the girls' peers.
David Andrus was generous to his daughters, Jennifer's friend William Crubaugh told the Chicago Tribune. She had the biggest room in the family home with her own bathroom, Crubaugh said.

A Hinsdale South yearbook shows Jennifer on the school's bowling team last year, the Tribune story said.

Police continue to investigate the family's deaths.
