Fundraiser Set to Benefit Sgt. James Borsilli's Sons

The event is scheduled for April 20 at Carriage Greens Country Club.

Darien Police always kept an eye out for others.

Years ago he helped watch over Darien's night-shift workers to make sure they got home all right, Ward 4 Alderman Joerg Seifert said.

Seifert, a bartender at the time, became friends with Borsilli through the late-night patrols.

“He always seemed to make you feel better regardless of what was going on in his life,” Seifert said.

With Borsilli’s Feb. 5 passing from esophageal cancer, Seifert is taking some of the lessons he learned from him and organizing a fundraiser to create a trust fund for the late sergeant’s sons.

The fundraiser is scheduled for April 20 in the grand ballroom at . The event will feature appetizers, beer and wine, and a cash bar for liquor, as well as raffles and silent auctions.

“It looks like we have a ton of people that want to help out, and I am hoping this will be a great event not only to raise some money for Jim’s boys but also to honor a great man,” Seifert said.
