Hazardous Weather Outlook—Wind Gusts Up to 40 MPH Tuesday, More to Come

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for our neck of the woods.

Get your kites ready. Not only is it going to be sunny and warm Tuesday, the wind is expected to kick into high gear.

The National Weather Service-Chicago has issued a Special Weather Statement and a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the west suburbs.

The Special Weather Statement warns of "wind gusts up to 40 mph this afternoon."

The winds are south to southwest, and will come up quickly this morning across Northern Illinois. Sustained winds will reach 20 to 30 mph this afternoon. The 40 mph wind gusts "could make traveling in high-profile vehicles difficult, especially on east-west oriented roads."

The gusts are supposed to subside a bit this evening but be back again Wednesday. The good news Wednesday is the high temperature is slated to get up to 62 degrees.

The Hazardous Weather Outlook says gusts of 45 to 50 mph are expected in "East Central Illinois," wherever that is—and that, too, will continue into Wednesday.

There is a chance of thunderstorms Wednesday night, generally south of I-88, the NWS-Chicago says.
