Local Police Agencies Conducting 'Traffic Safety Initiative' This Friday

Local police departments, the DuPage County Sheriff and Illinois State Police will be increasing patrols along the 55th Street Corridor on Friday, April 18.

This Friday, April 18, the Hinsdale Police Department will be joining law enforcement agencies in a special traffic safety campaign along the 55th St. corridor.

The purpose of this campaign is to increase the safety of motorists using the thoroughfare, through education and traffic enforcement. Police's efforts will concentrate on speed enforcement, occupant restraint violations, distracted driving, as well as any other safety violations that may be observed.

In additional to Hinsdale, other participating police agencies implementing enforcement plans according to their own community, including Clarendon Hills , Westmont, Downers Grove, Lisle Police, Naperville, the DuPage County Sheriff's Office and Illinois State Police.

The news advisory did not indicate what time the traffic initiative would start this Friday. All motorists are advised to put down the cell phones, buckle up and drive safely not just on Friday, but at all times, Hinsdale Police said.
