A man is behind bars after he was found with about 40 bags of heroin.

 police arrested Chad E. Hinshaw, 32, of Pontiac, at 6:10 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Remington Boulevard and Brookview Lane.

Hinshaw was a passenger in a car that had been stopped by police for failing to signal when required after cutting across three lanes of traffic. The traffic violation resulted in causing several other commuters to apply their brakes to avoid a collision with the car, police said.

Officers said they saw Hinshaw “duck down and then briskly move around the seat.”

After approaching the vehicle, police said Hinshaw continued to fidget and act nervous. Further investigation revealed Hinshaw was in possession of a clear plastic bag containing 40 smaller bags of a white powdery substance which tested positive for the presence of heroin, according to police.

Hinshaw is being charged with possession of a controlled substance and manufacture/delivery of heroin.

He was taken into custody, processed and transported to Will County Adult Detention Facility.

Police said the driver of the vehicle was issued a citation and released from the scene.

A man told police two Hispanic males garbage picking behind Service Wide Technology in the 2200 block of Curtiss pulled a knife on him over a stack of discarded printers on May 29. The man said the building next to the one he works at is vacant and someone put six printers behind the business near the dumpster. When the man went over to get one, two Hispanic males—one in his 50s and one in his 20s—were already over there in a white pick-up truck.. When the man asked if he could take one of the printers, the older man told him in Spanish “No, M*****f****r”, went to the truck and pulled out a knife. The two men loaded the printers into the truck and left. The man said the knife looked like a kitchen knife and the older man was short, bald and had lighter skin while the younger man was skinny with darker skin.

A robber brandishing an “edged weapon” took $500 from the cash register at the Speedway at 8301 Lemont Road around 1:44 a.m. May 25, Darien Police said. 

Police said the robber showed the clerk the weapon, the exact type of which is unknown, and demanded the clerk open the cash register. The clerk was not harmed during the incident.

The robber is described as about 5-feet, 3-inches tall, 155 pounds, possibly Hispanic and roughly 25-years-old, police said. His face was covered with a blue bandana.

Residential burglary in Woodridge

Someone shattered the back door to a home, gained entry and removed several items between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. in the 7900 block of Chesterton Court, police said.
