The Duck Says 'Moo?'

The Clarendon Hills Park District reported at 8:50 a.m. that a vandal spray-painted graffiti onto the north side of the picnic pavilion at Prospect Park, police said.

Painted onto the wall in white, police said, were a duck saying "Moo," and the word "Fresh." Removal is expected to cost the park district $100.

Steak Theft at Jewel

A woman stole 10 steaks worth $150 from Jewel, 303 Holmes Ave., at around 11:40 a.m., police said. The thief fled in a car driven by an accomplice. 

Children's Party Turns Violent

A resident of an apartment complex in the 200 block of North Richmond Avenue who threw a birthday party for a 2-year-old sustained minor injuries after he was beaten by several guests when he told them the party was over at 11:35 p.m., police said.

The victim did not provide police with identities of the party-goers who hit him, police said. The group left after the fight in an SUV. Alcohol was served at the party.


Fight at Church

A physical fight between a 55-year-old Maywood man and a 53-year-old man was reported at First Congregational Church at 7:40 a.m. The men were escorted from the church. No charges were filed.


Employee Charged with Stealing from District 61

A former employee of Darien School District 61 was charged with stealing from the district after turning herself in, officials announced Friday. 

According to a district press release, the employee made fraudulent time sheet entries that inflated the number of hours which the defendant is entitled to be paid. 

Rosemary Deno, 61, of the 6000 block of Lee Avenue in Downers Grove, was charged with misdemeanor theft on Friday after turning herself in at the DuPage County Courthouse. Her next court date is March 13.

That apartment building on North Richmond is filled with some real winners. I've seen several crime reports coming out of that place. It is a blight on the whole community.

These crimes sound like the commom antics you see around sec. 8 apartments. It will only get worse for residents and yet the dear landlord gets paid every month by the goverment. It only takes one apartment building to change the character of an entire neighborhood.
