Rowdy Rivals

An unknown male believed to be a Lyons Township supporter punched a Hinsdale Central student in the face after a Jan. 17 Hinsdale Central-Lyons Township boys basketball game, police said.

The incident occurred in the Hinsdale Central student parking lot between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The punch was thrown after the offender was chanted at by individuals the 18-year-old victim was with, deputy chief Mark Wodka of the Hinsdale Police Department said.

“The battery occurred following verbal chants that were taunting in nature,” Wodka said.

The case is pending.


Almost $1,900 Worth of Polo Shirts Stolen From Hollister

Someone took 63 short-sleeved shirts from a display in the front of Hollister, 314 Commons Drive, sometime between 5:20 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Jan. 10, reports said. The offender or offenders removed all of the shirts from the display located near the front doors. The shirts — gray, royal blue, light blue, green, Navy blue, orange and white — were valued at $29.95 each, or a total loss of $1,886.85.


Urinating Off Donovan Bridge?

An unnamed subject was issued an ordinance violation for indecent conduct for urinating in public on the Donovan Bridge, 1 E. Wilson St. Whether he was urinating on it or from it was not clear in the report. The subject, from Batavia, was not named in the report filed at 3:38 p.m. Jan. 11.


Drag Racing Teens in La Grange

Countryside police charged a 17-year-old boy with reckless driving after someone reported two cars for drag racing from Countryside into La Grange around 4:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17.


Juvenile Caught With Pot Brownies at OPRF

Police charged a juvenile Oak Park resident with marijuana possession with intent to distribute after police found seven individually packaged pot brownies — weighing 328 grams — in his possession. He was arrested at Oak Park and River Forest High School around 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, Jan, 21, and turned over to a parent, police said.

Baby Food, Formula Stolen From Porch

Someone stole a box containing baby food and formula from a front porch in the 1000 block of North Elmwood Avenue between 2:20 and 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan, 21. The total estimated loss is $50, police said.

Tip Jar Stolen from Cold Stone Creamery

A teenage male stole a tip jar containing about $25 from the front counter at Cold Stone Creamery in downtown Oak Park around 8:25 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19. The total estimated loss is $25, police said.

Teen Steals Rental Car

Forest Park police charged a 16-year-old boy with vehicle theft, failure to yield, driving without a license, possession of stolen property and attempting to flee or elude an officer after he stole a rental car from Hertz in Oak Park and tried to lose police during a chase on I-290. D'Angelo Smith, 18, of Forest Park, was in the car, and was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and trespassing a vehicle.
