Police saw Christy Guarino, 33, of the 2200 block of Olde Mill Road, traveling 73 mph in a 40 mph zone while swerving between lanes at about 6:50 p.m., according to the report.

Guarino drove over a raised curb, a grassy median and two lanes of an adjacent road before her car stopped in the bushes and trees beside the road, police said.

The officers said she had difficulty standing and had glassy eyes and slurred speech. Her breath smelled strongly of alcohol, according to the report.

Police originally charged Guarino with DUI but later amended the charge to reckless driving, said DuPage County State's Attorney spokesman Paul Darrah.

Guarino pleaded guilty to the reckless driving charge in December 2011 and satisfactorily completed her sentence, which included DUI conditions, Darrah said. The sentence involved counseling, 120 hours of public service and 12 months of conditional discharge, Darrah said.

Police also charged Guarino with operating an uninsured motor vehicle, speeding, failure to reduce speed to avoid and accident and improper lane usage.
