Police: $7,300 in Cash Found, Returned by Darien Walmart Employee

The following is a press release from the Darien Police Department:

On June 26, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. the Darien Police responded to Walmart located at 2189 W. 75th Street in Darien, IL for the report of found money. Richard Zuhn, manager for the store told the police officer that a shopping cart attendant located a bank bag left in one of the shopping carts.

Upon examination, the bag contained approximately $7,355. The unnamed employee immediately reported the found money to his manager. A person claiming to be the owner of the money contacted Wal-Mart. The Darien Police and WalMart management viewed store video to confirm the ownership. The money has been returned to the rightful owner. 

Darien Police Chief Ernest Brown commends the honesty and integrity of the Wal-Mart employee. It is a credit to entire Wal-Mart Corporation.
