Monday, Jan. 16

$1,660 tools stolen from McDonald's construction site

About $1,660 worth of tools and other construction equipment were taken from a PODS storage container being used during remodeling at the Plainfield Road McDonald’s, said. The container’s lock was cut off sometime overnight.

Saturday, Jan. 14

Underage drinking

Ryan Andree, 18, of the 1000 block of Cherokee, was arrested around 11:45 p.m. on the 800 block of High Ridge Court, police said. When officers pulled Andree over for traveling 45 mph in a 25 mph, they said he had glassy, bloodshot eyes and the car smelled strongly of alcohol. Andree told police he had been drinking earlier in the evening, the report said. His blood alcohol levels were less than .08, according to Breathalzyer test results. Andree was charged with speeding and consumption of alcohol by a minor, with a court date pending.

Friday, Jan. 13

Attempted burglary

A window at Wolf Camera was shattered, triggering an alarm that alerted Darien police to an attempted burglary between 5:35 a.m. and 5:46 a.m. Store management said nothing appeared to be missing.

Man steals candy, soup

A man took a candy jar and a can of soup with a combined worth of about $5 from the Lemont Road Speedway around 6:45 p.m., police said. A witness described him as a white man, about 50 years old and average height and weight, with black, shoulder-length hair and wearing a brown Carhart jacket. He left the parking lot in a gold Honda and traveled south on Lemont Road.

Thursday, Jan. 12

Possession of cannabis

Dontae J. Reed, 33, of the 7400 block of Tennessee in Willowbrook, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Cass Avenue and Plainfield Road, police said. After officers pulled Reed over for having a burnt out headlight, they said they smelled burning marijuana. Two hand-rolled joints were sitting in the ashtray, and officers found loose marijuana in Reed’s pockets and elsewhere in the car, according to the report. Reed was charged with possession of cannabis and given a Feb. 22 court date in Wheaton.

$30,000 in cash and jewelry stolen

More than $30,000 in cash, jewelry and other items was taken between 2:15 p.m. and 7:37 p.m. from a home on the 8500 block of Creekside, police said. Police aren’t releasing any more information at this time but said residents have nothing to worry about.

Lifted BlackBerrys

Two BlackBerrys were stolen from the AT&T store on 75th Street between 10 a.m. and 12:25 a.m., police said. The combined value of the phones was about $900.

Wednesday, Jan. 11

Profane graffiti

A crude word was spray-painted on a fence overnight in back of a home on the 1500 block of Norman Drive, police said. It will cost about $200 to clean up the paint.
