Sunday, April 29

Stolen bike

An unlocked bike was taken between 5 to 9 p.m. from near a parking spot in a common garage of an apartment complex on the 400 block of Redondo Drive,  said. The bike was worth about $250.

Saturday, April 28

Toilet vandalism

Police received an anonymous report that someone threw toilet paper and a hand sanitizer bag into a toilet at Lindenwood Park around 4 p.m.

Friday, April 27

DUI near Plainfield and Williams

Raymundo Garcia, 59, of the 8200 block of Lemont Road in Downers Grove, was arrested near the intersection of Plainfield and Williams around 1:30 a.m., police said. Garcia was driving erratically on Plainfield Road when officers stopped him, according to the report. He smelled strongly of alcohol and had red, glassy eyes, police said. He admitted to drinking and registered blood alcohol levels more than 0.08, according to Breathalyzer test results. He was charged with two counts of driving under the influence and driving without a license, and given a May 29 court date.

Wednesday, April 25

Stolen stones, broken windows

Someone took decorative stones from the driveway of a home on the 7200 block of Exner sometime between 8 p.m. April 24 and 6:20 p.m. April 25, police said. The suspect then broke two windows on the west side of an attached garage, causing $1,600 in damage, police said.

Monday, April 23

Shoplifting at Jewel

Joseph J. Spitalli, 61, of the 00S000 block of Washington Street in Darien, was arrested at Jewel, 7335 Cass Avenue, around 12:35 p.m., police said. Spitalli took a number of perishable items, totaling $78.41, from the Jewel without paying for them, police said. He was cited with retail theft and released.

Stolen iPhone

An iPhone 4s was stolen between 3-5 p.m. from a display at the AT&T store, 2415 75th Street, police said. The phone was worth about $649.

Possible return scam at Walgreens

A Walgreens manager said he thought a man took three items from a wall display around 4:45 p.m., police said. A woman entered the store at 7516 Cass Avenue and returned three items for a store credit, police said. It’s unclear whether they were the same three items. The total loss for the store was about $17.48.

Saturday, April 21

DUI on 83rd Street

Ashley M. Sutherland, 23, of the 800 block of Lorraine in Wheaton, was arrested around 3:20 a.m. on the 2800 block of 83rd Street, police said. Sutherland was driving erratically while traveling 47 mph in a 30-mph zone, police said. She vomited out her car window and had vomit on her mouth and clothes, police said. Officers said they smelled alcohol coming from Sutherland and that she admitted to drinking. Her blood alcohol levels were more than twice the legal limit according to a Breathalyzer test. She was charged with two counts of driving under the influence, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane use and speeding, and given a May 29 court date.
