Police Blotter: Car Burglary, Tire Slashing, Shattered Window

Darien police reports, April 15-20.

Friday, April 20

Car burglary

A purse containing a wallet, credit cards, cash, documents and a cell phone was taken from an unlocked car parked on the 7900 block of Cass Avenue, said. The items were worth about $265.

Mailbox knocked over

Vandals knocked a mailbox of its post overnight in front of a home on the 1900 block of 71st Street, police said. The mailbox wasn’t damaged.

Monday, April 16

Attempted car burglary

Someone punched out the rear door lock on a van parked overnight in a driveway on the 8200 block of Ripple Ridge, police said. The incident caused about $100 in damage.

Broken window

Vandals smashed a back window on a home on the 2000 block of Judd sometime between 10 p.m. April 13 and 7 p.m. April 16, police said. The incident caused about $500 in damage.

Sunday, April 15

Slashed tires

Vandals slashed all four tires on a van parked overnight in the driveway of a home on the 1300 block of Chapman Court sometime, police said. Someone also dented the front passenger-side door. The incidents caused about $1,000 in damage.
