Police Blotter: Car Stolen with Wedding Dress Inside, Home Burglarized

Sunday, May 13
Cars driven onto lawns
Someone drove a car onto the lawn of a home on the 1900 block of 72nd Street overnight, said. The incident caused about $50 in damage.
That same night, a car was also driven onto the lawn of a home on the 1700 block of Boulder, causing about $300 in damage.

Multiple incidents of vandalism
A mailbox was knocked off its post overnight on the 6900 block of High Road, police said. The incident caused about $30 in damage.
Another mailbox was knocked off its post that same night on the 6600 block of Bentley, police said, causing about $150 in damage.

Also that night, someone spray painted a number of city-owned street and traffic signs, as well as several pieces of Darien Park District equipment. The paint caused about $2,400 in damage.
Shoplifting at Walgreens
A carton of cigarettes and several MP3 players were taken from the Walgreens at 7516 Cass Ave., police said. When the suspect was confronted, he threw a cigarette box and ran north on Cass Avenue, the report said. A Walgreens manager described the man as black and about 6-foot, 3-inches tall, wearing a dark jacket and dark pants. The total loss was about $237.87.
Home burglary/suspicious activity
About half an hour after a home alarm went off on the 1300 block of Chapman Court, the owner realized a window and door that had been closed were open, police said. Nothing had been taken from the home.
Monday, May 7Stolen car
A 2005 Nissan Murano with a wedding dress and gifts inside was taken from the Extended Stay parking lot overnight, police said. It’s unclear how the thief got into the car, the report said. The owner still had both sets of car keys. The total loss was about $2,300. The car’s license plate number is 7185994.
Home burglary
An Apple computer, two Tag Heuer watches and a Jared pinky ring were taken between 3 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. from a home on the 8400 block of Chickory Court, police said. It’s unclear how the burglars got into the house. The items were worth about $7,400.
